What I’m Reading [15]

If I’m being completely honest, I’m exhausted and a little stressed right now. We close on our house on Friday. I, along with a couple of other teachers, are hosting the honor society inductions at the school on Sunday (which happens to be my wedding anniversary). I’ve been teaching research for almost two straight months. I’m pretty excited to get some time off from that after tomorrow. Despite that, I’m trying to build good habits now instead of using all those things as excuses. One of them is trying to read for at least an hour every day.

New Books

The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage | The Hate You Give

What I Read

I spent a lot of this week starting new books, so I’m impressed I finished anything. Obviously, it didn’t take long to read Ada Lovelace: Poet of Science. I started The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue on a whim and couldn’t put it down. I devoured most of it yesterday. Too bad it doesn’t come out until late June!

What I’m Reading

Since I kept starting new books, I’m working on a few right now. These are the ones I’m actively reading or listening to right now. I started reading random chapters of The Trump Survival Guide based on current policies and executive orders. I’m really making my way through Wonder Women and loving it. I started My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me as my commute audiobook. I decided to swap to the audio of The Hate U Give. It’s the audiobook I listen to while cooking or doing chores around the apartment.

What’s Next

I think my next book will be something on the short side, so I’ll probably choose one of these two. Vigilante sounds intriguing, but possibly a little crazy. I’ve been meaning to read The Truth About Alice for quite a while.

Last Week

This Week

  • [13 Mar] What I’m Reading [15]
  • [14 Mar] Spring TBR (Top Ten Tuesday)
  • [15 Feb] The Underground Railroad

What I’m Reading is a mashup post I write to participate in three existing book blog memes. It’s just a little easier for me to write one wrap up each week than to split them into three different posts. I guess I’m being a bit lazy. It’s Monday! What are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date and is a blog meme about reviewing what you’ve read and what you plan to read. It also allows bloggers to visit each other and bond of our love of reading. Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tyga’s Reviews is a blog meme for sharing all the books you’ve added to your shelves, including book mail, new purchases, review copies, and library hauls.

  1. I’m enjoying a snow day break today, which we’ll have to pay for tomorrow by shoveling snow, but I think it’ll be worth it as long as the power stays on! You’re reading a lot of books at once! I usually have two print and an audiobook going, but that’s about my limit. I don’t read much in the way of nonfiction, but I’m always intrigued by My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me whenever I see it. I’m currently listening to All the Light We Cannot See and am struck by how well the author portrays from the perspective of children who are just coming of age, the gradual way the Nazis went from laughable fringe element to dictators.
