My week off has been pretty awesome. We did some last minute shopping on Saturday, some family stuff on Sunday, and got to relax and do what we wanted the rest of this week. My husband had to go into work for a bit, but mostly we just relaxed. We spent a good amount of time with some friends, but I had plenty of time to blog. I also had plenty of time to read so I finally finished a couple of books!
I went to new comic shop in town with my friend yesterday. It’s a comic shop that’s also a tattoo shop. It was pretty cool. I knew the guy who owned it so I wanted to show some support and I ended up buying all three books of the March comics. They also had this awesome comic about the history of hip hop that I can’t believe I didn’t know about. I put the first two volumes on hold at the library.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness was the deal of the day on Audible one day last week so I decided I’d grab that. I also used one of my credits on You are a Badass by Jen Sincero after reading/watching the Mocha Girls blog post on the book. I think it will be a great, positive way to start my year. It’s been a while since I’ve read Giant Days, so I grabbed the last issue that will be in volume five so I can read through those.
What I Read
I finished Here We Are and I can’t barely get my thoughts together on it. I’ve got a few weeks to write my post and it might take me that long to write anything worth reading. It’s so good! I’m continuing my reread of Nicola Cornick’s Scandalous Women of Ton series. This particular read was much different than the first time. There’s so much awesome feminism in that book!
What I’m Reading
I haven’t actually started History is All You Left Me yet, but I decided like three weeks ago that this was going to my next book. I’m hoping to spend my relaxing Sunday with this book.
I brought some comics home with me for the holidays and I haven’t read them yet. I at least want to read Tomboy before I take them back to the school. I’m going to try to get to that today. I also want to read through the volume five issues of Giant Days today. We’ll see if I have time. If not, I’ll try to get to them before the end of next week.
On the Blog
What I’m Reading is a mashup post I write to participate in three existing book blog memes. It’s just a little easier for me to write one wrap up each week than to split them into three different posts. I guess I’m being a bit lazy. It’s Monday! What are You Reading? is hosted by Book Date and is a blog meme about reviewing what you’ve read and what you plan to read. It also allows bloggers to visit each other and bond of our love of reading. Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tyga’s Reviews is a blog meme for sharing all the books you’ve added to your shelves, including book mail, new purchases, review copies, and library hauls. Sunday Post is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer is a similar blog meme about showing off bookish goodies and posting updates about your blog.
